HELLO
I make portraits that explore emotion, relationships, and humour in everyday life. Working in oil paint, I’m drawn to kitsch, distortion, and pop culture—using them to create images that go beyond likeness and instead try to capture a feeling, a mood, or something a bit harder to pin down.
A lot of the work sits somewhere between humour and melancholy. I’m interested in that overlap—where something can feel both funny and a bit sad at the same time. Visual puns, wordplay, and cultural references often find their way in, alongside more honest or vulnerable moments. I want the paintings to feel playful and approachable, with something deeper lingering underneath.
I work from my studio in Newcastle, splitting my time between personal projects and commissions. I’m always open to commission enquiries and love creating portraits that feel personal and a little unexpected. Some original works are also available—feel free to have a look on the gallery page and get in touch for details.
I also share new work, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and early access to paintings through my newsletter—if you’d like to stay in the loop, you can sign up HERE.
At the heart of it, my work isn’t just about the sitter—it’s about a wider feeling or atmosphere, somewhere between nostalgia, humour, performance, and truth.
